Train Derailment
On September 15, 2002 at 11:20 a.m. westbound Norfolk Southern Railway train No. 15T derailed in station 11's first-due, derailing two locomotives and the first 25 cars. A tank car containing sulfuric acid was punctured, releasing a cloud of fumes that prompted responders to evacuate about 2,600 people within a 4.4 square mile area.
